Joe Altieri: A Journey Through Art, Education, And Photography

Greetings fellow astrophiles,

Those of you up-to-date on your Monroe East (and perhaps other) Genesee Valley Penny Saver reading will have noticed an excellent article by Suzie Wells in the 21 March 2025 edition about ASRAS’ own Joe Altieri.

ASRAS members have been treated over the years to a wide variety of Joe’s astrophotographic targets and skills by way of our member mailing list, including some of the best captures of recent eclipses, comets, and (especially) auroras Western NY has to offer.

The article is available within the digital-print version of the entire 21 March 2025 issue on issuu.com and also currently available as a separate post on the gvpennysaver.com website (and saved locally as a PDF).

Congratulations on the feature, Joe!

From the article:

Astrophotography has also been a passion, aligning with Joe’s enthusiasm for science and the cosmos. His photographic journey also expanded to include portraiture, where he found profound meaning in capturing milestone moments for high school seniors. For Joe, photography is more than a visual medium—it is a tool for education, storytelling, and community connection.
