Supernova 1998S in NGC 3877

This is an image of the Galaxy NGC3877 and the supernova 1998S in the constellation Ursa Major. It is composed of 5 - 2 minute exposures at F/3.3 with the Celestron Fastar 8 using the Optec focal reducer and a Starlight Xpress MX5-16 camera. As others have posted, the supernova is actually easier to see than the parent galaxy. I was able to see it when I was done imaging last night (3/28/98) with the Fastar 8 SCT at 221X
