during an almost full moon.
Our second brightest SN of the year, this one is another type II.
The host galaxy
NGC 6946
has been the host of 7 other supernovae, making it the most prolific
supernova producer.
An image taken by Yasuo Sano on 2004/09/19.665
shows nothing at this location.
This supernova first showed up on a TAROT Telescope image
taken on 2004/09/22.983 at Mag 15.17R, by 2 days later it
had brightened to Mag 12.7, which pinpoints this as very near
the date of the explosion.
We have a DSS Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.

This supernova is in the
Constellation Cepheus very near
the border with Cygnus.
